During our second lesson in the lab, we were asked to find 3 fields and bring up the main problems for each one. We had a brainstorming session to find as many possible fields in the food world and started writing down the problems that occurred to us.
Finally, we were able to decide on our 3 top topics to focus on.
Agriculture
Dietary needs
Overconsumption Culture
The first step we had to take was to learn more about each field. We set up 6 interviews spread across the fields and in preparation for the interview process, we prepared a general questionnaire to focus us.
Our next step was conducting the interviews. We interviewed professi
onals in each of the chosen domains. It was important for us to choose people from different fields so that we could experience the domain from different perspecti
ves, and better understand the problems and needs.
Our Interviewees:
Agriculture: we chose to interview both a young and more tech-savvy farmer, as well as an older technologically opposed farmer.
Consumer Culture: we interviewed an environment community manager and a psychology professor who specializes in consumption.
Nutrition: we interviewed a nutritionist who specializes in children and eating disorders.
After the interview, we summarized our findings and tried to find the most prominent pain points. Our next steps are to take our findings and figure out which domain is most interesting and relevant to us.
