Weeks 15 & 16: Research and Design

Updated: May 17, 2023

As the development of our PlanEat app continues, we are thrilled to share the progress we've made over the past two weeks.

The developers have been hard at work recreating the existing screens of the app using Material Design principles. This approach ensures that the user interface is not only visually appealing but also intuitive and easy to navigate. By following these design guidelines, the app will provide a modern and seamless experience to its users.

We are also excited to announce the first draft of the website that will allow invitees to RSVP to events created on the app. This website is a crucial part of the PlanEat ecosystem, providing invitees the option to RSVP to events they are part of. In the future, we plan to expand the website to let users pick the items they'd like to bring to events and help track the progress of the rest of the event group. This way, they can feel like a more prominent part of the event even though they are not the main organizers of it.

Meanwhile, the design team had a busy week. We had two important meetings that significantly contributed to the progress of our app. The first meeting was with Hezi, who provided valuable tips and insights about the application's user experience (UX).

During the meeting with Hezi, we discussed several aspects of the app, including the navigation, the screens' layout, and the app's overall flow. We also received some constructive criticism that helped us identify areas where we could change the app to make it more user-friendly. Thanks to Hezi's feedback, we identified some significant improvements we will implement in the next development phase.

This week's second meeting was with Maayan, an expert in graphic user interface (GUI) design. Maayan's advice was essential in helping us improve the visual design of our app. We discussed various aspects of the app, including the color scheme, typography, and overall graphic design. Maayan gave us some excellent advice on making the app more visually appealing and engaging to users.

In addition to these meetings, we also spent significant time making changes and design improvements based on the feedback we received. We are committed to creating a visually appealing and user-friendly app, and the feedback we received from Hezi and Maayan will help us achieve this goal.

Looking ahead, the biggest next steps in development will focus on the app's backend functionality. The developers will be researching and implementing new features such as WhatsApp and ChatGPT API's, as well as working on database management and connecting all the app's components. This work is essential to ensure that the app provides a seamless and functional user experience.

Overall, we are thrilled with the progress we've made on PlanEat and can't wait to see how it evolves in the coming weeks. We are confident that the app will change the way people plan and enjoy food-focused events, making it easier than ever to plan them.
